A POSTCARD FOR LEYTONSTONE

A view of Church Lane, Leytonstone, East London inspired by photographs of the area found at Vestry House Museum photographic archive. Following conversations with local shop owners I created a fictional twinning with Kaunas in Lithuania which seemed to hold similarities to Leytonstone, an intervention aimed to promote cultural exchange between nationalities. The card follows techniques used by postcard publishers particularly throughout the 1970's to create an idealised view of an area.
